3D Systems elects new board member

<%=company1%> announced Richard C. Spalding has been elected to its Board of Directors. Spalding is a general partner with the venture capital firm of ABS Ventures. Spalding becomes the company's eighth board member.

"We believe that Richard Spalding will be an excellent addition to the 3D Systems Board of Directors," said G. Walter Loewenbaum II, chairman of the board. "His wide ranging expertise in public company legal issues, his familiarity with financing transactions as well as administrative issues are expected to be of great assistance as we move forward with our corporate development strategy."

Spalding has nearly 25 years of experience advising public and private companies on legal and financial issues. A graduate of Phillips Academy, Harvard University, Cum Laude, Columbia University School of Law, Law Review and Kent Scholar, 1974 and 1976, he began his legal career as an associate with the legal firm O'Melvaney & Meyers. He joined Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison in 1977 and was named partner in 1982. During his more than 14 years with Brobeck, he co-founded the firm's Palo Alto, CA, (Silicon Valley) office and later headed the firm's San Francisco corporate group, where he co-chaired the Strategic Planning Committee.

In November 1991, he joined the investment banking firm Alex Brown & Sons and was named managing director in January 1992. He headed West Coast investment banking activities and was responsible for overseeing the creation and supervision of Alex Brown's office in Japan.

In March 1996, he joined Fusion Medical Technologies serving as vice president of finance and corporate development, a post he still holds. From 1997 to 1999, he also served as vice president and chief financial officer of Portal Software, an Internet billing company. He joined ABS Ventures as healthcare general partner in January 2000.
