Mitsubishi Announces Revolutionary Dry Hob Cutting System
Mitsubishi Machine Tools introduces the new SuperDry GN Series – a revolutionary dry hobber system for gear-cutting.
The highly efficient Mitsubishi GN10A, GN20A and GN25A dry hobbers eliminate the cost of purchasing cutting fluids and the hassle of disposing them – protecting the environment and enhancing safety. The SuperDry hob on these systems is a distinctive cutting tool made of MACH 7 material which is coated with a proprietary material that dissipates heat and reduces tool wear for sustained gear quality – tool life is actually extended five times longer when compared to wet cutting. The hob operates horizontally to accommodate chip removal by allowing the chips to drop beneath the workpiece directly into the conveyor and out of the machine.
The SuperDry GN Series also offers excellent unmanned operation capabilities, high productivity, and full FMS compatibility. Compared to conventional gear hobbers, chip-to-chip dead time has been greatly reduced, rapid traverse rate has doubled, and maximum hob length and hob shift length are now the longest of any gear hobber in its class. The standard spindle speed is 300-3,000 rpm for the GN10A and 200-2,000 rpm for the GN20A and GN25A dry hobbers.
A hardened and ground helical gear drive table permits highly accurate indexing. When combined with Mitsubishi's conversational CNC programming format, this gear hobber series is unbeatably fast and efficient.
A flexible, intelligent loader with a parts stocker plus an Automatic Work Changer (AWC) give this hobber series the lowest non-cutting times possible. The loader is equipped with several measuring devices that aid unmanned operations such as a tool outer diameter measuring device; an automatic tool run-out measuring device; and an automatic workpiece tooth thickness measuring device. Automatic trial cutting capabilities can be utilized with the master gear toothing method.
When used in an FMS situation, the SuperDry GN Series is easy to maintain with chip conveyor and simple hydraulic maintenance schedules.
Various monitoring functions simplify FMS operation and ensure that hobbing is performed smoothly.
Mitsubishi takes advantage of all the latest technologies to offer flexible machines that work in today's highly automated shops.
