Description

Video: SURFCAM Velocity Featuring TrueMill Toolpath High speed machining has previously been defined by milling high speeds but at shallow, not deep, depths of cut. The limiting factor has always been the erratic fluctuations in tool load inherent with the toolpath created by all CAM software. The patent pending TrueMill toolpath engine in SURFCAM Velocity solves this problem by dynamically managing the tool load to boost productivity. Milling machines are now able to cut faster and deeper to maximize volume removal rates on production, mold and aerospace parts. Also, tool life is extended when machining all materials, including tool steels, aluminum, titanium, even exotics.

Here's one example of a TrueMill toolpath cutting steel at speeds, feeds and depths commonly used in non-TrueMill toolpaths when cutting aluminum:

  • Material - Stainless Steel 420
  • Spindle Speed - 6500 RPM (850 SFM)
  • Programmed Feedrate - 100 IPM | 2540 MMPM
  • Cutting Tool - .500 Inch Dia - Data Flute
  • Axial Depth Of Cut - .500 In. | 12.7 mm
