The new 2040 VMC is Chevalier's answer to shops that demand heavy production and high accuracy on a limited budget.
The new 2040 VMC is Chevalier's answer to shops that demand heavy production and high accuracy on a limited budget. Standard on the machine is the FANUC OMC control and direct-coupled digital AC servos with standard remote type manual pulse generator. FANUC OMC maintains the highest average uptime over any other CNC's in its class. The FANUC AC Digital 15HP spindle is designed with a high-torque, slip-free timing belt with spindle speeds programmable to 6000 RPM (8000 & 10,000 RPM motors also available). Cutting through mild steel ¼" deep and 2.0" wide is a breeze at 60 IPM feedrate. Supporting the spindle are 4 pre-loaded angular contact bearings. Programming uses G-code and CAD-CAM formats, handled with ease by the machine's dual 32-bit microprocessor. Traverse is 590 IPM on the X and Y axis and 472 IPM on the Z axis.
Productivity enhancing features include: rigid tapping, helical interpolation, canned cycles and macro programming. The machines come with a carousel-type, cushioned 20-station automatic tool changer, with an option for a 24-station arm type. Full 5 ½" wide hardened and ground square ways are perfect for heavy duty steel hogging and provide maximum rigidity. The Turcite-B coated ways ensures stable and smooth traverse even during the 590 IMP rapid movement on the X and Y axis. Laser & ballbar calibration testing done in each machine right after assembly ensures submicron accuracies of +/-0.0001" repeatability and +/-0.0002" positioning. Listed at the low $50's, Chevalier further strengthens its position as a major partner for profitable machining.
