The Al2O3 coated sumiTurn® AC700G grade is designed for interrupted turning of gray and ductile cast irons. The AC700G's new coating and tough substrate reduces micro-chipping, coating delamination and chip adhesion.
In extended testing, the AC700G resulted in longer tool life than the competition. In this application, Sumitomo's AC700G machined ductile cast iron at 600 SFM with a feed rate of 0.007 IPR and a depth of cut of 0.080". When using AC700G in another ductile cast iron application (with speeds of 650 SFM, feeds of 0.014 IPR and 0.100" depth of cut), fracturing was minimal when compared to the competition.
