DAEWOO'S PUMA TX200YY WITH DUAL SPINDLES, EACH WITH Y AXES

West Caldwell, NJ -- Daewoo's Puma TX200YY is a powerful, extra-rigid turning center that features dual spindles, both with programmable C and Y axes. Each spindle is powered by its own spindle motor, and served by its own tool turret.

This new Puma incorporates many of the same features used in other Daewoo turning centers. These include a massive Meehanite bed; a heavily ribbed, torque-tube design; integral box ways; oversized, double pre-tensioned ball screws; torque limiter clutches; and a convenient 450 slant bed that keeps tools in close proximity to the guides, and enhances chip flow.

The Puma TX200YY machines parts with maximum dimensions of 11.8" diameter and 7.9" length. The left spindle is driven by a 25Hp motor that produces speeds from 45 to 4,500 rpm, and a maximum spindle torque of 226 ft-lbs. Corresponding data for the right spindle are 20 Hp, 45~4,500 rpm, and 188 ft-lbs.

The twin turrets accept live or static BMT65 tooling at each of their 12 stations. Turret indexing is bi-directional, with quick 0.1 sec. station-to-station indexing. A sophisticated non-lifting design allows heavy cuts, fine surface finishes, long boring bar overhang ratios, and extended tool live.

Rotating tools are driven by a 5 Hp motor that generates high torque and up to 4,000 rpm. Rotating tools supplied with the Puma TX200YY accommodate milling, drilling and rigid tapping axially and radially. Optional rotating tool holders are available for slotting and angled holes. Polar coordinate interpolation is provided for easy C-axis contouring.

Other important features of the Puma TX200YY include a programmable part catcher and part conveyor, a separate coolant tank and 65 psi coolant system, a way lube separation system, and chuck air blowers. The controller is a versatile, 64 bit Fanuc 18iTA with self-diagnostic functions.

The Puma TX200YY will be demonstrated for the first time at IMTS 2000, booth #A1-8141.
