DMH-500
The bed and box-type column are made of fine-grain Meehanite cast iron, material that effectively dampens shock, absorbs vibration and dissipates heat. The design has been thoroughly tested to ensure consistent high speed and accuracy. A simulation of heavy loads at the center demonstrate the machine's exceptional resistance to bending and deformation. Widely spaced integral box ways help absorb shocks and maximize rigidity.
Oversized AC servo drives link directly to the ball screws, eliminating possible backlash and servo drag. The center mounted X and Z axis ball screws are double pretensioned and supported on both ends by high precision angular contact thrust bearings. A special coupling located on each ball screw flexes to absorb the shock from sudden impacts. A stepped sleeve system positions the spindle at right angles to the machine. The ISO 50 spindle taper, 25 Hp motor, and 738 ft. lbs. of low-end torque is enough to tackle the toughest assignments. Its 3-step spindle drive with speeds to 5,000 rpm assures high productivity.
Each DMH-500 is equipped with a rotary shuttle pallet changer. The pallet measures 19.7" square, supports loads up to 1,764 lbs., and can be rotated in 1o increments. The system provides high reliability and a wide working area for easy parts loading and unloading. A tapered cone cleaning system is installed to protect the pallet's positioning mechanism. Strong jets of air are discharged from the tapered cones whenever pallets are changed. This removes chips and assures precise pallet positioning.
A 60-station tool magazine (90 and 120 stations are optionally available) is separated from the machine to eliminate vibrations, even when the ATC is operating during high precision work. The tools are selected by a pot-address, random-selection method that follows the shorter route. A double arm changer returns tools to the posts from which they were taken, eliminating collisions when large-sized tools are used.
Heat shields and a fan located at the back of the DMH-500 radiate ambient heat, and the heat generated by controllers, hydraulics, chips and other material located in close proximity to the machine. In addition, a 106 gal. tank supplies coolant both for the machine's flood cooling system and for its through-the-spindle system. The temperature of hydraulic fluids is regulated by a refrigerated cooling system. A Vogel system provides automatic lubrication to all guideways and ball screws. The way oil is delivered by piston in precise volumes. A low level alarm prevents the machine from starting when lubricant levels are low.
The completely enclosed DMH-500 confines chips and coolants to the inside of the machine. Screw conveyors remove chips to chip buckets or other optional recepticals.
Controlling the DMH500 is a versatile Fanuc 16-MC with a 14" color monitor, portable manual pulse generator, and complete library of G-codes for simple programming and operation.
Machining capacity is limited only by the machine's 31.5" x 25.6" x 25.6" (X x Y x Z) axis movements; and 5.9" to 31.5" distance from the table center to the spindle gage plane.
