Chevalier is introducing a new VMC with linear guideways
Chevalier is introducing a new VMC with linear guideways for high speed machining: the 2040VMC-L (40"x20"x20"). The new models feature 2 THK NR linear guideways on X & Y axes and rigid square ways on the Z axis. With this new design, Chevalier VMC's now offer both high speed machining and heavy milling capabilities with 1181ipm rapid travel on X & Y axis, 709ipm at Z axis and .04 to-300ipm cutting feedrate. The Z axis has a counterweight with dual bearings that helps it handle heavy loads efficiently while maintaining smooth movement and accuracy. The counterweight in the Z axis also helps increase stability and reduce headstock vibration during high speed machining. An extra wide saddle completely eliminates table overhang situation which causes vibration and chatter during heavy duty end-mill machining. The spindle motor peaks at 8000rpm (opt 10000/12000rpm) and has an extra-wide timing belt which improves transmission power. Standard in the new models is a 15HP spindle motor and a 1320lbs load capacity. As with the new big VMC models, the 2040VMC-L uses a floating type tool discharge system which totally eliminates direct impact on the main bearings caused by the tool release cyclinder. The tool changers on all models have a bi-directional access random tool selection for convenience. Two tool changer types are offered: standard carousel type with 20 tools and optional arm type with 24 tools. The carousel type has a pneumatic direct changer, with each cylinder designed with a pneumatic slow-down function for accurate and stable operation. The arm type automatic tool changer with cam construction shortens tool change time. An automatic air blower keeps the spindle clean during tool change. The drive cards, motors and control are all FANUC and come with a 2-year warranty. Two FANUC control models are offered: FANUC OM and the popular 18M series. The major machine components are made of heat-treated FC-30 castings. Enhancing the rigidity of the entire structure is the box type, ribbed design of the column and machine base. Options include a Through-Spindle coolant system which pumps the coolant directly through the spindle and a rear chip flushing device for removing hot chips from the machine.
