The world leader in 100% solid state radio frequency (RF) induction heating, today announced the availability of the Nova Star 5 power supply. Compared to the older 5kW power supply it replaces, the Nova Star 5 offers significant advances in flexibility, accuracy, and speed. The new model is also 498 lbs. lighter, approximately ¼ the size and costs almost 20% LESS.

With 5kW deliverable output power and an extended 50-485kHz frequency range, a single Nova Star 5 can be used for broad range of induction heating applications such as brazing, bonding, curing, getter firing, annealing, materials testing, metal/plastic insertion and shrink fitting.

The exceptional accuracy of the Nova Star automatic digital tuning system makes it easy to heat different size parts without recalibration or delay. Microprocessors within the power supply continuously track the resonant frequency of the tank circuit and coil/part combination and automatically adjust output frequency to the peak of resonance.

Fast tuning speeds of <20msec and power on/off rise times of <50msec provide an instantaneous response to changing conditions. Additional flexibility is provided by the compact remote heat station, which may be mounted up to 200 feet away from the power supply. An internal timer can be set for heat intervals from 20 milliseconds up to 2 hours and 47 minutes. Power output can be set to maintain constant tank voltage, tank current or power at the workpiece.

With a 4-20mA input circuit and RS 485 interface, the Nova Star 5 is easily integrated with computer equipment and temperature control systems. Designed and built under Ameritherm's ISO-9001 quality process, the Nova Star 5 complies with all applicable international safety standards, including CE.
