As Swift As A SVM 4100!

Mills CNC introduces a new ‘swift’ vertical machining centres into the UK and Ireland.

Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland, has introduced a new, high-speed vertical machining centre into the market.

The new SVM 4100 has been designed to help manufacturers reduce part processing times, especially when machining aluminium alloys and for the light-duty machining of steel components.

With fast acceleration/deceleration rates (0.72/0.6/0.6G on the machine’s X-, Y- and Z-axes), impressive tool-to-tool change over times (1.3 seconds) and boasting 36m/min rapids on all three axes, the SVM 4100 can get down to business fast – dramatically reducing non-cutting times and, as a result, part cycle times too.

The machine’s speed (and power) is further exemplified by its 18.5kW/12,000rpm/95.5N-m directly-connected BT 40 spindle which also features the Big Plus face and taper dual contact system, and an integrated thermal displacement correction system to ensure (and maintain) high accuracies even during long machining runs.

The SVM 4100 is equipped with a generous sized worktable (920mmx 410mm with a 600kg maximum table load) which is said to be the largest machining envelope in its class.

This, in addition to its 30-tool position ATC, a grease lubrication system that eliminates the need for oil skimmers and reduces lubrication costs by up to 60%, the Doosan Fanuc i Plus control with a 15” touchscreen intuitive and easy-to-use iHMI, and Doosan’s conversational and menu-driven Easy Operation Package (EOP) for improved process reliability and functionality.

The machine can be supplied with a range of options that include: i) an ATC Shutter that provides greater protection from chip ingress into the ATC area than the standard barrier brush system, ii) TSC (Through-Spindle-Coolant) options from 20bar to 70bar, iii) tool and workpiece measurement systems, and iv) different hinged or scraper-type chip conveyor systems.

The new SVM 4100 will make its UK debut at MACH 2022 (4 – 8 April) on Mills CNC’s stand (Hall 19 – Stand 100), with machines expected to be available to UK and Irish component manufacturers early next year.
