Atlas Technologies Inc. (Fenton, MI) has been awarded an $8 million from a major North American appliance manufacturer for two stamping and fabrication systems. Atlas will be the systems integrator for the project, combining its automated equipment with stamping presses, coil-feeding equipment, and stamping dies procured from other manufacturers. The flexible systems will fabricate a wide variety of air conditioner panels for the appliance manufacturer. Production is planned for the second quarter of 2001.

"Our experience as a systems integrator for these types of production lines was a major factor in the selection process," says Michael D. Austin, president and CEO. "We are pleased to be favored with this customer's continued capital equipment business."

Atlas Technologies, which is owned by Ann Arbor-based Productivity Technologies Corp., is an ISO 9001-registered producer of pressroom automation. Its products include complete die change systems; die storage and retrieval systems; sheet metal handling systems for destacking and stacking; in-press transfer systems; and standardized press cells and turnkey stamping press systems.
