The world leader in 100% solid state radio frequency (RF) induction heating, today announced the availability of new technology for industrial brazing applications. The new Atmospheric Brazing System* (ABS) cleanly processes individual parts with speed, accuracy and economy, without the drawbacks associated with flame brazing procedures and batch vacuum furnaces.

ABS utilizes precision, solid state induction heating to braze conductive materials in a controlled atmosphere. "It's really the first precision atmospheric brazing system designed for high speed, in-line operation," said Tom Giglia, Ameritherm's Vice President and General Manager. "This is an exciting new approach for brazing copper, steel and nickel components using silver, copper or nickel alloys."

Flame brazing in a normal atmosphere causes oxidation, scaling and carbon build up on the parts. To clean the parts, applications of joint-weakening flux and expensive acid cleaning baths have been required. Batch vacuum furnaces solve these problems, but have significant limitations of their own because of their large size, poor efficiency and lack of quality control. Existing "bell jar" atmospheric brazing systems produce clean parts with precision, but their low throughput is impractical for high production environments.

ABS solves all these problems – because the parts are brazed in an inert atmosphere, oxidation and scaling are eliminated, and no flux or acid cleaning bath are needed. ABS is quite compact in comparison to large vacuum furnaces, and is designed for 24-hour in-line operation on your production floor with improved quality control, real time monitoring and SPC.
