CNC Single Spindle Automatic: The INDEX ABC Machine
This new concept uses the latest CNC technology, namely a PC-based control, digital AC axis drives, AC frequency-controlled spindle motor and the LCD display. This is complemented by innovative screw machine-type features such as a super speed turret indexing mechanism and hydromechanical bar feed-out system. The indexing mechanism allows turret indexing in 0.17 seconds. Feeding of the barstock takes a mere 0.5 seconds, including the opening and closing of the collet.
For fast metal removal, up to 28 HP is available from the spindle drive and two turrets allow overlapped cutting with up to 3 tools simultaneously. The lower 6-station turret is designed as a forming turret and the upper 8-station turret is predominantly for internal work. A patented rear-working tool arrangement allows the pick-up spindle to perform operations on the cut-off side, while the turret starts on the next workpiece.
