Complex features on sheet metal parts aren't a problem
In this case the right tooling is UltraForm tooling from International Metrology Systems. Amada thick turret press users and others using thick turret tooling can use the Mate UltraForm system for high-quality and versatile feature production.
Advantages of UltraForm tooling include reduced tool cost because fewer tool components are required. In addition, flexibility is achieved because the forming inserts are interchangeable and the tools do more.

UltraForm tooling has a length adjustment feature, which can be preset for savings in tool setup time. Once installed in the machine, the tool can be reset without removing the tool from the machine, as is the case with most other types of form tooling.
Adjustments of 0.002-in. (0.05 mm) per "click" of the punch head can be made quickly and easily while angle settings of 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees are possible. Additional form tooling is available for producing countersinks, center points, continuous beads, formed embossings, flanged hole extrusions, tapped extrusions, knockouts, lance and forms, shear buttons, alpha numeric characters, embossed custom logos and thread forms, among others.
