Data Conversion Tool for Assembly Modeling, EDM, PDM

Data eXchange Navigator (DXN) from Theorem Solutions Inc (TSI: Loveland, OH) is a data conversion tool designed for companies involved in concurrent engineering and collaborative design and manufacturing. DXN provides a hierarchical breakdown of the product structure definition for assembly modeling, EDM, and PDM applications.
With DXN, engineers can access and integrate product information from different CAD systems and STEP formats and digitally inspect, evaluate and verify data before deciding to run a data conversion. Both functions can be done without using a CAD system. Consequently, the user can work with an assembly containing subassemblies and components of dissimilar CAD systems, independent of the CAD systems.

Using a simple point-and-click interface, engineers can examine and manipulate product structures, use a scalable overview window to traverse large assemblies, extract subsets of a product structure to create new structures, and modify a structure using cut-and-paste options. DXN also links to visualization software such as dVISE, Direct Model and Optegra Visualizer for fly-by views of large assemblies.
Engineers may compare one set of product structure information with a previous version as well as bring together a collection of data and export the output. Subassemblies, consisting of a number of small geometric components, can be merged into one larger file or a large file can be broken down into smaller forms. Attribute information can be attached to any product component including product name, design release data, cost or weight.
DXN works with CADDS5, CATIA, I-DEAS, Unigraphics, STEP AP203 and STEP AP214. Support includes read and write capability of product structure, non-graphical attributes and geometric data.
For a complete data exchange solution, DXN can be used with Theorem Solutions' CADverter, CADviewer, and CADhealer to view, navigate, heal, and convert data to other forms.
Pricing for DXN begins at $2500. Platforms supported include HP Series 9000 HP-UX, IBM RS6000 AIX, Silicon Graphics IRIX, and Sun Solaris. A Windows NT release is planned for later this year. DXN is an add-on product used in conjunction with CADverter products.
