Demonstration Of Wireless Factory Automation System At EASTEC 2005
Elmira, NY, and Ellington, CT - The manufacturing company of the future will be demonstrated when Hardinge, Inc. and CNC Computer Integration, LLC combine forces at EASTEC 2005. The two companies will conduct demonstrations of Hardinge Inc. machines equipped with CNC Computer Integration's WireFreeCNC factory automation system, as data transmitted from the Hardinge booth (#1341) is transmitted in real time to the CNC Computer Integration booth (#5664). EASTEC attendees will be able to monitor several process variables, projected simultaneously on 42-inch flat panel displays in each booth.
All of the Hardinge machinery in its booth will be equipped with WireFreeCNC wireless technology, enabling the monitoring of variables that include number and cost of parts produced, machining time, operator and equipment efficiency, and machine status. Each of these variables will be displayed. In actual manufacturing applications, this data then would be extrapolated and integrated into data automation systems on the manufacturing floor, as well as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in administrative offices. Data and reports would be accessed at the desktop and manufacturing processes optimized quickly.
"Hardinge is changing the world of metalcutting with our new milling, turning and grinding machines," said J. Patrick Ervin, chairman, president and CEO, Hardinge Inc. "With the addition of technology such as this wireless factory automation system, and the ICEFLY cryogenic technology from Air Products on our QUEST 51 lathe, we are demonstrating at EASTEC ever more complete manufacturing solutions to help our customers increase their productivity and lower their costs."
The wireless factory automation system enables manufacturers to set up and move machinery at anytime. In addition, data is transferred at the fastest communication rate possible, without any tethering to data acquisition cables. Barcode scanners can access the system for time and material tracking.
"WireFreeCNC was made for manufacturing, applying lean manufacturing to its fullest," said John Carpenter, president, CNC Computer Integrations, LLC."Once the inherent benefits of a wirefree environment are recognized, great strides will be made in productivity and accountability in manufacturing."
These benefits include:
- personnel and material tracking
- remote troubleshooting for machines
- transmission and retrieval of real time data from process flow
- status reporting without human intervention
- notification of problems before catastrophic failure.
