DMG MORI Expands Munich Site Into European Headquarters

World-leading machine tool manufacturer DMG MORI is setting up its European headquarters and technology center in Munich. From 2026, the company will rent an innovative 10,000 square meter building close to the Olympic Park.

Customers, partners and future talent will be able to experience high-tech machines in a prestigious 1,500 square meter showroom. In addition, offices with up to 300 workplaces will be created for the administrative, sales, service and engineering functions of the company group with Japanese-German roots. With this step, the technology company is reaffirming its commitment to the European market and to Germany as a business location. Around a third of the group's 13,000 employees worldwide already work in Germany.

"We chose Munich as our European headquarters due to its central location in Europe, excellent infrastructure and talented workforce. Our largest European production plant in Pfronten in the Allgäu region is also only a two-hour drive away," says Dr. Eng. Masahiko Mori, President of DMG MORI.

Recently, a successful Open House was held in Pfronten with over 6000 visitors, whereas around 50% came from outside Germany to explore the high-technology machines and automation solutions.

"By choosing this location, we are not only shaping the future of our company, but also returning to our roots: The "D" in DMG MORI stands for Friedrich Deckel, whose company developed and built precision machine tools in Munich until the 1990s. The Bavarian capital is an economic and technology center", says Irene Bader, Member of the Board at DMG MORI.

Sustainability and innovation: the new business quarter
The new headquarters will be part of the Go Four It business quarter, which will begin construction in spring 2024. It is located close to the Olympia shopping center on Hanauer Strasse and has excellent public transport connections. DMG MORI has signed a 20-year lease, making a long-term commitment to Munich and the Moosach district. The six-story building will provide state-of-the-art office space with its own restaurant and green roof areas. The project is being realized by RH Unternehmensgruppe, an expert in commercial project development, and investment specialist Competo Capital Partners.

"The Go Four It business quarter stands for sustainable and innovative architecture. We are pleased to have found a renowned tenant in DMG MORI that shares our vision of a future-orientated working environment," says Robert Hübner, Managing Partner of the RH Group.

Strengthening the international presence
Munich is to be DMG MORI's new European headquarters from 2024. The company is therefore renting additional temporary office space in Parkstadt Schwabing as early as April 2024. The Group's global headquarters is in Tokyo, Japan.
