The Nakamura-Tome TW-20 8-axis CNC turning center is one in a series of three twin-turret, twin-spindle turning centers. The TW-20 features a 20-hp, 5000-rpm spindle. The machines are designed to be used as chuckers for machining castings or forgings, or as a bar machine with 2-in. bar capacity for high volume production.
The TW-20 features the ability to perform critical touch-off to establish datum without a probe. The TW-20 unit can handle maximum turning diameter of 10.63 in. using an 8-in. chuck. CNC control is supplied by the Fanuc 18TC. Twin turrets have 12 positions, 0.25 sec tool index with a left-side parts catcher. Options such as a 25-hp spindle (left), with dual C axis and milling, Y-axis machining capability, and high-pressure coolant are available.
