Eastec 2000: Charmilles Shows Advanced Wire and Sinker EDMs

Charmilles Technologies (Lincolnshire, IL) will exhibit both advanced wire and sinker EDM machines at Booth 5345.
The Robofil 230, a submerged wire EDM machine which is being introduced, achieves angles of 30 degrees regardless of Z position, making it a good choice for a wide range of moldmaking and mechanical engineering applications for workpieces weighing up to 1,100 lb. Machining parameters and wire tension are adjusted before each change in direction by the Robofil 230's Profil-Expert programming that ensures precision of sharp corners and small radii while maintaining the same clearance.
The Brother HX-50A, a 5-axis wire EDM with large X-Y travel, but a small footprint, is designed for large workpieces or multiple small workpieces. A full line of taper modes enables processing of anything from production parts to mold and die components. Closed loop control with linear glass scales for direct reading of table positions ensure high position accuracy. The automatic wire threader features cutting line return function, retry function, and jimp function to improve working ratio.
The Roboform 35 is a diesinker EDM that features the latest in automation and machining technology in a compact 26 sq ft of shop floor. The Roboform 35 utilizes Charmilles "Expert" systems and numerical control capable of true multi-tasking. Program Expert automatically writes machine programs—from roughing to finishing—and selects the best technology for upcoming applications while the machine concurrently works on another project.
The Roboform 35 comes equipped with micro-machining especially suited for applications in the fields of connectors and micromechanics. It features a 32-position tool changer, a drop tank designed for full visibility and accessbiility, auto-restart, and an option for C-axis capability.
