The Prismatic AMCU12 five-axis universal machining center is designed to provide accurate, high-speed, multi-sided (polygonal) and prismatic machining
The Prismatic AMCU12 five-axis universal machining center is designed to provide accurate, high-speed, multi-sided (polygonal) and prismatic machining.

The machine, designed for small and large shops alike, features a programmable B-axis head rather than a conventional tilting rotary to achieve five-axis configuration. Controlled XYZ axis movement is 32- × 16- × 20-in. The B-axis offers 225° movement and the C-axis offers continuous rotation.

The Prismatic includes a liquid-cooled spindle powered by a 7.5-hp spindle motor with three speed ranges and a maximum speed of 10,000 rpm. Other standard features include a chip isolation system and a full enclosure. The machining center has a positioning accuracy of ±0.0002-in. in the X-, Y-, and Z-axes with 15 arc-seconds in the B- and C-axes, and with 8 arc-seconds repeatability in the B- and C-axes.

Rapid traverse rate is 500 ipm for the X-, Y-, and Z-axes. Rapid positioning rate is 15 rpm on the B-axis and 28 rpm in the C-axis. The machine features the Contour CNC control system, a PC-based, open architecture control that runs under Windows NT operating system.
