Drake Manufacturing Services, Inc.ute grinder can grind a wide range of parts—both right and left hand helix—from .0625 in. to 6 in. in diameter and from 1.5 in. to 16 in. long. The 4-ton cast polymer base and double-wall steel columns are designed to absorb vibration and optimize machine performance. Four sets of guideways define workspace volume: curved guideways with power clamps for right and left helix positioning (A axis); three vertical guideways for wheel downfeed (X axis); horizontal guideways for wheel/dresser movement (Y axis); and table guideways for continuous, reliable workpiece feed (Z axis).
The Grinding spindle motor is 25 hp (18 kW), while the wheel diameter is a maximum of 12 in., and a minimum of 2.625 in. The GS:F grinder comes with complete Drake's Par Smart software customized to the customer's parts. All the operator does is enter numbers for part specs and process variables, and the GS:F is ready to start putting parts out of the door.
