Haas Boosts Capacities of SL-30 Lathe

Source: Haas Automation, Inc.
"If it ain't broke, make it bigger, better, faster, less expensive." That's the design philosophy at Haas Automation. Every product is continuously refined and re-engineered to ensure that machines coming off the line today are better than machines that came off the line 6 months ago, 1 month ago or even last week.

The Haas SL-30 CNC lathe is just one example of this ongoing improvement. In response to customer needs, the SL-30's spindle has been re-engineered to have a larger bore, boosting bar capacity to 3.0". This extra capacity, up 1/2" over previous machines, adds more flexibility for bar-feeding and bar-pulling operations. Maximum part diameter has also been increased to 16.3" (from 14.5"), through the switch to a bolt-on style tool turret as standard equipment.

Falling in the middle of the Haas SL series of CNC lathes, the SL-30 features a 30" swing and a maximum cutting capacity of 16.3" x 34". The machine is powered by a 30-hp vector drive system that provides speeds to 3,400 rpm. Hydraulic chucking and a 10" three-jaw chuck are standard, and a fully programmable hydraulic tailstock is available as an option. If even larger bar capacity is needed, or just more power without stepping up to a larger machine, the SL-30 can be ordered with a Big Bore option that increases bar capacity to 4". The SL-30 Big Bore comes equipped with a powerful 40-hp vector drive and a high-performance two-speed gearbox that combine to yield 850 ft-lb of cutting torque.

The SL-30 is part of the ever-expanding line of CNC lathes from Haas. Look for the full line of Haas lathes at a trade show or Haas Factory Outlet near you, and see for yourself the affordable solutions and outstanding reliability Haas has to offer.
