Hanwha Robotics Signs MOU With WIA Machine Tools For Strategic Partnership On Collaborative Robot Automation Solutions

Hanwha Robotics has partnered with WIA Machine Tools to accelerate the global adoption of automation solutions powered by collaborative robots.

On September 11, Hanwha Robotics CEO Byungchan Jung and WIA Machine Tools CEO Jaejin Joo signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Hanwha Future Technology Research Center in Seongnam, South Korea, establishing a strategic partnership in automation solutions.

The agreement covers the supply of automation solutions for machine tools, mutual support for installation, maintenance and training, and joint participation in international exhibitions.

Under the partnership, the two companies plan to introduce turnkey automation solutions that combine collaborative robots with machine tools. They will also share their global distribution networks and establish a joint support framework to give customers greater confidence in adopting these solutions.

Hanwha Robotics will leverage its advanced collaborative robot technologies, including Robot AI Vision and Visual Safety, to strengthen the competitiveness of the solutions. WIA Machine Tools will provide optimized system designs, drawing on its experience in machine tool automation.

The first results of the collaboration will be unveiled at EMO 2025, the world’s largest machine tool exhibition, which opens on September 22 in Hannover, Germany. The companies will showcase two automation solutions that integrate Hanwha Robotics’ collaborative robots with WIA’s machine tools. They also plan to present jointly at major trade shows next year.

WIA Machine Tools manufactures and exports precision cutting equipment such as lathes and machining centers through a global network of more than 130 dealers. Hanwha Robotics has collaborated with WIA’s European and North American dealerships since 2019.
