HD Series Horizontal Double Disc Grinders

For high-volume grinding of a wide range of workpieces, Koyo offers the HD Series horizontal double disc grinders. The grinders allow manufacturers to achieve extreme flatness and parallelism and smooth finish on parts from 1" to 5" wide and from 2" to 12" long such as connecting rods, brake components and bearing and compressor parts.

Designed to utilize superabrasive or conventional wheels, the new series joins Koyo's vertical double disc grinders to provide one of the largest range of double-disc grinders available—four horizontal and three vertical spindle machines with wheel diameters from 12" to 42". Automatic wheel dressing is provided with machine using CBN, diamond or conventional abrasives.

The four models in the series permit rotary or through-feed part feeding to handle a wide range of part configurations. The Koyo feed systems are easily interfaced to robotic or other automated part supply systems, The machine itself is engineered to permit quick changeover to handle part sizes and shapes within its range. Compact design makes it ideal for automated system integration.

Key to achieving the part flatness and surface finish specifications if the extreme mechanical accuracy of the line. At the heart of every Koyo surface grinder is a highly rigid square slide located at the center of the spindle. That plus a stiff, refined bed design support consistent near lapping quality grinding. Each machine is equipped with a spindle head alignment system.
