IMA Schelling Rethinks Edging
Uncompromising technology for uncompromising furniture
IMA Schelling is bringing four powerful statement technologies for edging to LIGNA 2025. From ultra-clean milling and soft-forming with thick edging to smarter grooves and PUR edge banding – IMA Schelling shows what's possible when you push the boundaries and never stop pushing for technological improvements.
Universal machining units for integrated milling
Perform highly efficient drilling or milling during the edge processing cycle. With the universal machining units from IMA Schelling, work takes place during the edging cycle – with no need for stopping in between or retooling. A new linear-driven milling unit with 3-axis CNC has been developed for handleless fronts and specialises in producing clean surfaces that can be painted straight away.
The unit runs in synchronisation with the feed; in other words it moves through the machine at exactly the same speed as the workpiece. This in turn makes for particularly clean and precise machining. The same applies to a unit for Clamex milling, which is likewise available with optimised throughput.
IMA Schelling turns individual units into a modular system: drilling, dowel insertion, milling and reworking modules are compatible with each other and can be used in combination. For particularly tricky profiles, the I-KFA corner rounding unit ensures a clean internal contour. Let's edge it!
Soft-forming with thick edging
Handleless fronts are aesthetically pleasing, but creating them used to be costly and technically complex. IMA Schelling has resolved this problem intelligently and efficiently with one system and four profile types or one straight edge. Of course it's fully automated too. Be it a J or C profile, a rabbet or bevel, IMA Schelling's Combima format and edge processing machine can do it all in a single pass – and even with thick edges ranging from 0.6 to 1.0 mm.
Also included are 40 metres of technology, the option of switching between different profile designs, integrated hot air modules, mechanical shaping, precisely tailored adhesive quantities, and of course, flat scrapers, internal contour milling, buffing and brushes.
New grooving unit: it's time to get groovy!
IMA Schelling is now launching the successor to its established grooving unit and it comes packed with an extended range of functions:
- Swivelling? Automatically if required.
- Positioning? Quickly.
- Tool change? Simple thanks to the optional HSK interface.
- Automatic tool change? No problem with the expandable tool changer.
- Groove width variance? Assisted by the flexible width grooving tool.
- More power? Now up to 6.6 kW.
The new generation is more modular, more powerful and smarter than ever. It offers additional options, delivers greater convenience and means more flexibility when machining grooves.
PUR edge banding with HS Klebtec: now in-house at IMA Schelling
With the HS Klebtec melter systems, IMA Schelling is now integrating the full PUR power in the factory – in new machines and existing systems alike. But what are the advantages? Automatic refilling, operation directly on the edge banding machine, flexible hoses for improved accessibility and container changes during production. And all from a single source.
