IMTS 2000: Magnetic Bed Drag Conveyor

Jorgensen Conveyors, Inc.g is a magnetic bed drag flight conveyor for removing broken and fine cast iron, steel, and other ferrous chips in metalcutting machine tool applications.

Fine cast particles tend to stay afloat in coolant and are particularly difficult to remove. However, this device incorporates a series of magnets under the load section so that steel or cast iron chips and fines can flow with the coolant into the conveyor. Gravity causes larger chips to settle to the bottom, while finer chips still in suspension are attracted by a series of magnets located underneath the conveyor. All of the chips are then conveyed out by the drag cleats.
