A Penton Engineering Excellence Recognition (PEER) Award for World's Best Engineering Practices has been awarded to Ingersoll Milling Machine, Rockford, IL subsidiary of Ingersoll International Inc, a privately owned holding company. Ingersoll Milling was recognized for its "migration to Desktop CAD and PDM" strategy that was enabled by strategic implementation of SolidWorks Corp (Concord, MA) 3D CAD software, including SmarTeam and COSMOS/Works. SolidWorks was similarly honored with a PEER Award Vendor for software and support services provided to Ingersoll Milling. Awards were made at Penton Media's M/TECH 99.

"Rob Bauer, senior staff engineer at Ingersoll Milling commented: "By strategically implementing SolidWorks and some of their Gold Logo products, such as SmarTeam and COSMOS/Works, we have been able to design and build superior products for our customers. Through their software and support, SolidWorks and their Gold Partners have given us the capability to design, visualize, and analyze new engineering standards and products. These include key components of our transfer lines that produce hundreds of auto engine parts each hour, special applications heavy machines, and our high-speed linear motor machines."
