Now available form Chevalier is the "BIG EATERS" lathe series, designed for large diameter workpiece cutting. They come in 32", 36" and 40" swings and 40", 80", 120" and 160" distance between centers. These heavy-duty lathes use 40HP motors controlled by the popular Anilam 4200T CNC. Features include teach mode for CNC, constant surface speed as well as powerfeed and JOG modes. Part programming is a lot easier to perform with its 14" color CRT. Also standard is a hydraulic tailstock and chip conveyor with cart. The headstock features a 3-step pneumatic gear with pneumatic automatic shifting. The extra large 6.3" spindle bore is supported by Class 7 ABEC precision bearings for extra rigidity. Because of their large dimensions, the front and back turret can be fitted with both horizontal and vertical turrets. The machine's stability is enhanced by their one-piece machine bed and base design and a 3 "V" and one flat guideway system.
The entire structure is made of Meehanite castings with hardened and ground machine ways with Turcite-B laminated saddle and cross ways. As with the early LATHEPlus models, the new series delivers +/- 0.0002" repeatability and +/- 0.0004" positioning accuracy. Totally separate lubricant and coolant tanks prevent fluid mixup. A temperature regulator is incorporated to maintain ambient temperature while an automatic lubrication system provides metered lubrication to all transmission units. The new dual door design provides more visibility during workpiece inspection. The apron control, with X & Z Rapid Travel, MPG and Emergency Stop buttons, are mounted on the safety door for convenience and operator safety. With the addition of these new models, Chevalier now offers 16 teach-in type CNC lathe models, the most comprehensive in the industry.
