The Cobra laser profile scanner is designed for measuring precision cast, machined, and stamped metal parts, tooling and dies, molded plastic components, printed inks and paper surface, milled surfaces, membranes, and coatings. By combining laser technology, a computer-controlled moving sensor, and data analysis software, it scans any part or surface to produce a high resolution, 2-dimensional profile. The sensor scans by moving over any surface or part without special fixturing.
Cobra can be used on a benchtop, mounted on user-supplied fixturing, installed on a production line to take in-process measurement, or place directly on or over a larger component. Cobra is supported with a range of interchangeable laser sensors, with Z-axis resolution to 0.125 µm. A Windows 95 or 98 based user interface and flexible Scan data analysis software allow the user to set preferences, log measurements, and export data into Excel.
