An expansion software package that runs inside AutoCAD for Windows, Auto-Code enables AutoCAD to generate machine tool control programs for manufacturing and production. The programs are generated for CNC tools using standard M and G code word address programming formats.

Among the standard functions this package supports are standard linear and circular movement; cutter compensation; feed rate, spindle, and table movement controls; flame and plasma cutting; laser cutting; waterjet cutting; turning centers; wire EDM cutting; punch press (AutoCAD 2000 only); and horizontal and vertical milling.

Other features include pocket operations for mill work, special machine cycles and controls that can be implemented as patterns or using AutoLISP, routing, punch operations (AutoCAD 2000 only), and turning operations.

System requirements include AutoCAD Release 14 or AutoCAD 2000 and Windows NT, 98, or 95. The minimal system configuration is a Pentium processor running at 120 MHz or higher, 32 MB RAM, 1+ GB hard disk, SVGA or better graphics for high resolution (256-color display), and 15-in. SVGA .28 dot pin monitor.
