Multi-tasking Turn/Mill Center

The Multiplex 6200Y integrates the processes of two CNC lathes and a machining center into one machine. The turn/mill center features a twin-turret and twin-spindle and Y-axis drive integrated into the turret's movement for enhanced multi-tasking machining of workpieces complete in a single setup. Feedrates of 1,200 ipm (X-axis), 1,300 ipm (Z-axis), 394 ipm (Y-axis), and 400 rpm (C-axis) can also increase productivity.

Twin opposed spindles can work independently or continuously on the same workpiece to complete first and second operations. With the addition of the integral Y-axis, the machine can cut perpendicular to the spindle giving it full machining capabilities such as drilling, milling, and tapping on or off the centerline. According to the manufacturer, significant savings in throughput time, setup time, and work-in-process inventory result. The Multiplex 6200Y is equipped with an 8-in. chuck and can machine workpieces with a maximum diameter of 10.24-in. and up to 7-in. long. Bar stock with up to a 2-in. diameter can be cut.
