NEW 20"x40" VMC WITH LINEAR GUIDEWAYS, ANILAM 6400M CONVERSATIONAL CONTROL

Chevalier's new 2040VMC-L (40"x20"x20") features 2 THK NR linear guideways on the X & Y axes and rigid square ways on the Z axis. Powering the machine is Anilam's new 6400M conversational control with 25 canned cycles for jobs like tapping, drilling, pocket milling, etc. The control has a 586-133SBC with DRAM, 6GB hard drive, 32-bit 60Mhz processor and color flat panel TFT display. This new design gives Chevalier VMC's with both high speed machining and heavy milling capabilities: 1181ipm rapid travel on X & Y axis, 709ipm at Z axis and .04 to-300ipm cutting feedrate. The machines' repeatability is ±0.0001" while positioning accuracy is ±0.0002" . The Z axis has a counterweight with dual bearings that helps it handle heavy loads efficiently while maintaining smooth movement and accuracy. An extra wide saddle completely eliminates table overhang situation which causes vibration and chatter during heavy duty end-mill machining. Pre-tensioned 40mm ballscrews are used in all axes, with backlash and pitch errors compensated by laser calibration equipment. The spindle motor peaks at 8000rpm (opt 10000rpm) and has an extra-wide timing belt which improves transmission power. Standard in the new models is a 15HP (opt 20HP) spindle motor and a 1320lbs workload capacity. This new model also uses a floating type tool discharge system which eliminates the load pressure transferred to the spindle bearings during tool change. The tool changer features bi-directional, random access tool selection for faster tool change. Standard equipment is a carousel type tool changer with 20 tools and optional 24 tool arm type tool changer. The carousel type uses a pneumatic cylinder, designed with a pneumatic slow-down function for accurate and stable operation. The arm type automatic tool changer with cam construction shortens tool change time. An automatic air blast keeps the spindle clean during tool change. The major machine components are made of heat-treated Meehanite castings hardened to Rockwell 65 hardness. Enhancing the rigidity of the entire structure is the box type, ribbed design of the column and machine base. Options include a 300psi Through-Spindle coolant system which pumps the coolant directly through the spindle and sprays out from the end of the cutter to cool the hottest spot. A rear chip flushing device for removing hot chips from the machine is also offered as an option.
