Coherent, a provider of laser solutions has rolled out the new MetaBEAM laser machining center that is ideal for processing metals and has the ability to address non-metal processes.

The MetaBEAM offers high-precision metal processing with CO2 lasers. It combines the laser cutting head, drive system, beam-delivery system, laser, CNC controller, and machine frame, in a compact 4 x 4 ft standard table size. The device also has an optional table size of 4 x 8 ft. The device provides a cutting table design, which has the ability to decrease parts tip-up.

Switching thickness or materials can be done with MetaBEAM's focal axis, having a capacitive sensor that precisely sustains the distance from the workstation. The cutting head of the MetaBEAM is shielded from getting damaged by a magnetic breakaway solution.

The MetaBEAM is ideal for laser fabrication and job shops, and for manufacturers of small and large production runs. Applications of the MetaBEAM include architectural models; furniture parts; plastic, metal and wood cutting; electrical enclosures; aerospace and automotive components; point of purchase displays; and medical components.
