New Web Portal Supports Esprit CAM Users—Worldwide

CAM software developer, DP Technology (Camarillo, CA) has introduced its new web portal to serve the needs of its ESPRIT CAM user community—worldwide. The portal functions as a central focal point for discussion, communication, and support and is available free of charge to any ESPRIT user with an active service contract.

Officially called "Customer Web," the portal is a family of four separate websites conveniently linked through a central access point. Its newspaper style format offers a "What's New?" section along with a Q&A "Tip of the Month" for users. Customers can link to up-to-date information on any Esprit product. The customer newsletter, Esprit-de Corps, is also available as downloadable .pdf files. Most important, the CustomerWeb homepage is the jumping point to the three other innovative community support sites:

• WebBoard: a Web-Based Discussion Group provides an open forum for information exchange. Participants are welcome to ask questions and share ideas, solutions, and experiences with other ESPRIT programmers. While this is an open forum, DP staff does monitor the postings and will occasionally add its thoughts and ideas when they are believed to be a positive contribution.

• SupportWeb: an Online Solution database and Three-Tiered Support System is a web-based three-step technical support system. Customers will usually start by using FAQs (frequently asked questions) to find an answer to a question. If the initial FAQ search doesn't provide a satisfactory answer, a searchable solution database is the next stop. Finally, if the user doesn't find a solution in either of these places, they can submit the question to DP's technical support engineers directly from the web and subsequently receive a reply via e-mail.

• FileLibrary: a Database Drive Library of Files provides the Esprit community with a central repository of useful data files such as post-processors, macros, and add-ins. Esprit users will find a wealth of valuable files thanks t the contributions of both the worldwide Esprit user community, independent third party software developers, and DP Technology. These downloadable files are accessed through a searchable database and are also conveniently organized according to file type, machine type etc.

DP ahs integrated web technology into is Esprit product, allowing users access to this new portal, or any website, and the entire CustomerWeb without ever leaving the CAM application. In addition to the new CustomerWeb portal and its public website, DP maintains an intranet directed to employees and a secured site, updated weekly, supporting its international reseller network.
