The Pegasus 2000 was designed from the ground up for fast, accurate, reliable flying height measurements and low cost of ownership. The Pegasus 2000 uses radically new sensor technology to precisely measure flying height of HGA-level heads all the way down to contact, while maintaining complete measurement accuracy.

The Pegasus 2000 has no minimum flying height limitation, and does not require a separate step for phase-change on reflection measurement. Every head is dynamically measured for both flying height and n & k optical constants, thereby eliminating guesswork and ensuring measurement accuracy.

In addition to measuring the slider's flying height, the Pegasus 2000 also provides a simultaneous white-light view, with easily-interpretted colors, for quick verification that the slider is flying properly and is free of contaminants.
The unique PartCentered spin stand and efficient mechanical design simplifies alignment and provides throughput upwards of 120 parts/hour with a full 4-point HGA test at a single radius. Plus, the 20,000-hour MTBF laser diode illuminator provides years of safe and reliable performance.

The new continuous scan feature for the Pegasus 2000 increases throughput by 50% in real-world measurement situations! Instead of taking many individual measurements along the length of a rail, the system makes one continuous measurement in a fraction of the time. This means reduced test cycle time and increased throughput and profitability. In addition to increasing throughput, the continuous scan feature offers improved measurement repeatability as well.

The continuous scan feature is standard on all new Pegasus 2000 systems - existing systems can be upgraded in the field at minimal cost.
