The OmniTurn GT-Jr. is a portable 2-axis CNC lathe designed for production secondary work. Spindle positioning at 75-deg angle brings the spindle close to the operator and adds flexibility. The machine can cross-drill, mill, slot, face-drill, and helical mill, as well as accommodate automatic loading of parts that are not round. The machine can be used with a barfeed.

The gang-tooled machine has a 5 hp standard spindle drive for both bar and secondary work. Spindle speed is from 100 to 4,000 rpm (5,000 rpm optional). Travel in X is 10 in. (12 in. optional); travel in Z axis is 9 in. Slide accuracy is 0.0001 in. total and slide repeatability is 0.00005 in. Rapid travel rate is 300 ipm. The GT-Jr is "live tool ready" and with C-axis spindle positioning can finish complex parts with just one setup. The standard spindle nose has the 5C collet seat ground directly into it.

The PC-based OmniTurn control uses both standard and advanced G code for diameter programming, automatic corner radiuses and chamfering, roughing cycles, threading cycles, peck drilling, among others. Programs are stored on either a 1.44 meg floppy disk or 10 meg hard disk.
