Precision Surface Grinders

Wilton Corp, Machinery Division of surface grinders is designed to maximize performance and accuracy by isolating the work area from vibration causing elements. Two sizes are available: 6- × 18-in. and 8- × 20-in.

The 6x18-in. machine is available in two configurations—manual and with an automatic hydraulic feed on the longitudinal table movement. The 8- × 20-in. model is a fully automatic surface grinder that offers automatic controls to ensure precision and exactness when finishing. The machine spindles are of a cartridge design. Runout of the spindle nose taper is <0.000070-in. (0.0020 mm) TIR. The spindle and motor make up a direct drive, one-piece design, which is dynamically balanced to attain a vibration displacement under 0.0006-in./sec (0.015 mm).

The surface grinders feature an automatic lubrication system designed to provide constant lubrication of critical wear areas for long life, hardened elevating and crossfeed leadscrews, and a spindle cartridge that is lubricated for life.
