Prima Industrie Purchases Convergent Energy, Formerly TransTec Lasers
Prima Industrie S.p.A. and its subsidiary Prima U.S. Inc. (Farmington Hills, MI) have purchased Convergent Prima Inc., formerly known as TransTec Lasers Inc., dba Convergent Energy. The acquisition will strengthen Prima's position in the North American market and add substantially to its laser product offerings around the world.
Convergent Prima Inc. (Sturbridge, MA) has been a pioneer in lasers and laser systems for thirty years. Products include both CO2 and Nd:YAG lasers with a power range from 50 to 60,000 Watts, in addition to the Gemini series of laser processing workstations. Industries served include automotive, aerospace, and microelectronics. The Sturbridge facility houses the industry's premier laser applications/engineering group, manufacturing plant and serves as the hub of an extensive field service organization.
Prima U.S. Inc. serves North American customers for 2D and 3D laser systems for cutting and welding in the automotive, appliance, aerospace, and contract fabricating industries, primarily for laser processing of flat and formed metal parts.
Prima Industries S.p.A. manufactures laser machines and systems and is headquartered in Turin, Italy, where it employs 250 people within the main Turin facility and in branches throughout Europe and the U.S.
