--Hardinge Inc. recently expanded their offering of HQC Quick-Change collet systems to include all CNC lathes with A2-5 and A2-6 spindles, all Hardinge CNC lathes, and multi-spindle automatics made by Acme-Gridley, Cone, New Britain and Wickman.HQC Quick-Change collets can be changed from one size collet to another size in less than 20 seconds, providing greater uptime, especially on multi-spindle automatics! The reduction in weight and the unique, efficient HQC design (exerting more gripping force) achieves greater concentricity control for faster feed rates and higher spindle speeds, resulting in faster job turnaround.
Chucking forces are higher than jaw chucks and even higher than solid and master collets. Because of extra gripping force, tool life increases and parts come off the machine quicker.
Unlike most other brands of quick-change systems that must be returned to the manufacturer to have the seals changed or re-vulcanized, Hardinge HQC seal inserts are easily operator-replaced, minimizing downtime.
The HQC Quick-Change collet system is shorter than standard spindle adapters, providing more work area, and the ability to machine closer to the spindle for better finished parts.
