The Romi TORMAX 13-5-40 Engine Lathe by Bridgeport is completely manual, this lathe is ideal for prototyping and small lot sizes. Built tough to handle heavy loads with hardened and ground alloy steel gears in the headstock, it has a 5 HP spindle motor. The spindle is mounted in precision Timken taper rollerbearings for proven reliability and long life accuracy. Twelve spindle speeds offer ranges from 50 - 2,500 RPM.A 13" swing on a 40" bed, it has a hardened D1 camlock spindle nose and 8-position tool post. Long-lasting way life is achieved with induction hardened bedways of Rockwell 45c. A complete coolant system with splash guard is standard on the 13 - 5 - 40 engine lathe, as is a special leadscrew design to eliminate backlash.Up to 184 different threads can be cut on the TORMAX 13 - 5 - 40 by two combinations of gears in the end gearing. A new headstock offers a wider range of spindle speeds and feeds to provide maximum flexibility. Both productivity and safety are improved with a new hydraulic disc foot brake that is coupled to the motor.Automatic longitudinal disengagement; chrome plated handwheels; long cross slide with T-slots and a compound rest; and a set of change gears for inch, metric, module, and diametral pitch threads are all standard features.
