Michael Deckel now offers the new S 18 low cost 5-Axis CNC Tool Grinder designed for grinding small to medium size tools such as end mills, drills, stepdrills, Hi-Performance drill points, subland drills, taps and countersinks according to Deckel Grinders, Inc. the exclusive North American sales and service organization for Michael Deckel grinding equipment. The new S18 is equipped with a specially balanced grinding spindle powered by a 5.5 HP AC-servo motor that provides stepless variable spindle speed from 1,000 to 9,000 RPM for optimum stock removal. A key design feature is the pivot point location of the high precision rotary table that permits the grinding wheel to move directly around the radius center of the tool to ensure high accuracy when grinding radii.

Ideal for resharpening shops and in-house tool grinding operations, powerful software in combination with an ultra-modern PC-control allows users to eficiently handle the most demanding tool grinding tasks. With its Pentium Processor calculation times are reduced, data is easily entered and programs are readily generated. The PC is located in a dust free cabinet together with the 14" color monitor and a retractable keyboard. User-friendly software programs provide for universal resharpeing of the most common tools using standard wheels. In addition, it is possible to create programs to meet customer tool designs.

Additional S-18 features include, three-dimensional probe for automatic tool measuring, digital AC servo drives for rapid and accurate axis movements, automatic central lubrication system for east maintenance and a heavily ribbed steel welded and reinforced machine base for superior rigidity. Wet grinding enclosure permits use of water soluable coolant or oil.
