Sharp SG series surface grinders are a prime example of Sharp's commitment to precision and quality
Models SG618-2A, SG618-3A

Sharp SG series surface grinders are a prime example of Sharp's commitment to precision and quality. All critical castings are made of Meehanite GC275, and are annealed and stressed-relieved for durability. Sturdy box-type construction is reinforced with ribs for added rigidity-all complimented by Turcite-coated double 'V' ways on the table and saddle. The result is unmatched reliability.

Of all the automatic surface grinders we carry, the versatile 3-axis SG618-3A is still the most popular model. And there are a number of reasons for this. The SG618-3A has an advanced numerical control spindle downfeed system that allows east data input for stock removal and feed selection. Automatic grinding cycles can be set for regular transverse grinding, or plunge grinding with the spindle approaching from either the left or both sides of the table. Coarse feed, fine feed and up to nine passes for spark out are all standard.

Of course, even with all this high-tech control, much of a grinder's accuracy is determined by the spindle. That's why we designed ours with a one-piece cartridge and high precision ABEC 7 bearings. This surface grinder is further enhanced by a direct drive motor for vibration-free heavy grinding and smooth finishes.

There are many more great features to the SG series like automatic crossfeed, saddle locking system, crossfeed ball screw, automatic lubrication system, advanced hydraulic system with independent oil tank which provedes vibration-free table movement, hydraulic table stroke setting, and more. These outstanding features together make the SG series superior than the competition.

Other models are available with a larger 8 x 20" table. (SG820-2A, SG820-3A)
