Precision grinding spindle:
The grinding spindle is held, free of play, in a sturdy bearing assembly. This means vibration-free grinding without any cutter marks, however tough the grinding job may be. Needless to say that the spindle is tightly sealed to prevent the ingress of dust and dirt - a precondition for maintained accuracy after many years of service.

Integrated dressing unit:
Incorporated in the wheel guard is a dressing unit (standard equipment) which can be moved to its operating position by simply turning a knob. The diamond serves to dress the face of the cup wheel and is adjustable by means of a fine-adjusting screw.

Universal setup facilities:
Numerous linear and rotary adjustments are the basis for the wide variety of shapes and profiles obtainable on the SO. All controls are conveniently grouped at the front of the machine and thus within easy reach of the operator.
The work holding fixture, which is designed as an index head is held on a tabular guide member, arranged for longitudinal adjustment. Two swivel bearings (vertical and horizontal) enable the cutting tool to be positioned in two mutually perpendicular planes. The work holding fixture, accommodates tools up to 17.5 mm (0.7"). For grinding off-center radii, the index head slide is adjustable in a direction transverse to the vertical swivel axis. A practical tool setting arm greatly facilitates fast, fine adjustment of the cutting faces of single lip cutters.

Bench and pedestal models:
The SO is available either as a bench model or on a sturdy pedestal, on which the machine is positioned at an ergonomic height. The stand incorporates a handy tool tray, adjacent to the machine, and a compartment for storing collets and other accessories.
