SolidWorks Awards Sigmund 1D Certified Gold Product Status

Varatech (Holland, MI) announced that SolidWorks Corp (Concord, MA) has awarded Certified Gold Product Status to Sigmund 1D, the first commercial tolerance analysis product fully integrated within SolidWorks software.

"We are very pleased to welcome Sigmund 1D as a Certified Gold Product," says Brian Houle, Gold Product manager for SolidWorks Corporation. "Our customers now have access to an associative tolerance analysis solution that runs completely within the SolidWorks window.

"We believe that being globally competitive requires companies to keep raising the bar in quality," says Varatech president, Robert Gardner. "By providing engineers with an easy-to-use analysis tool that evaluates the effect of component tolerances on assembly quality, Sigmund 1D will enable them to design better quality products while reducing costs and cycle times. We're excited about the introduction of Sigmund 1D and our partnership with SolidWorks."

Sigmund 1D, a tolerance analysis tool, enables engineers to evaluate, optimize, and validate assembly-build quality relative to piece part tolerance and assembly process variation, eliminating costly assembly fit, finish, and function problems.

Fully integrated with SolidWorks, this value-added tool can predict the quality of a SolidWorks assembly based upon predetermined tolerance values or determine the component tolerances required to meet a given assembly build objective or design goal. Sigmund 1D also includes a powerful utility, which automatically optimizes all tolerances in a given model providing the design engineer with an efficient method of applying tolerances.

Using Sigmund 1D early in the development phase before design solidification and hard tooling procurement should prevent costly tweaking delays at ramp-up, as well as long-term variation problems. Sigmund 1D optimizes the design and assembly process, adds precision where needed, and eliminates overly costly designs, Varatech says.

SolidWorks users who are interested in evaluating Sigmund 1D can download a free, full-working version from the software section of the Varatech website.
