Surfware, Inc., developers of SURFCAM CAD/CAM Systems, recently announced that the latest SURFCAM release adds new and useful features to the award winning PC-based CAD/CAM software.

SURFCAM 2000.1 increases its ease-of-use with several new enhancements such as new toolbar buttons, quick access to recently used files and "Save As" file options. Password and personalized product information can now be accessed quickly and easily.

Improved wire EDM production methods simplify programming by adding new features such as automatic tab (glue stop) positioning for core applications, corner looping and production optimization. The new corner looping feature addresses situations where a sharp corner needs to be cut without burning the edge of the corner. Production optimization allows the organization of cutting strategies when multiple profiles are being cut.

Further improvements include the new part edge compensation feature that allows the operator to define the tooling dynamically on the shop floor, providing flexibility when choosing tooling for cutting. Stock and fixtures can now be defined for various set-ups within a single job. With SURFCAM Verify Plus enhancements, the Inspect menu can be used to compare the machined part with the design part in either the SURFCAM DSN or STL (StereoLithography) format.
