THK Caged Technology Expands to Include More Innovations

THK revolutionized the industry when they introduced Caged Ball™ Technology to the world. The overwhelming success of this product innovation has propelled the expansion to additional Caged Technology products.

THK Caged Technology now includes three product groups: Caged Ball™, Caged Roller™, and Caged Technology Ball Screw™. THK's most recent innovations include the industry's first Caged Roller™ guide - for customers with specific rigidity requirements. THK has also improved upon the ball screw by incorporating their newly designed ball return tube and an elastometric spacer to separate balls. This allows for an increase in maximum nut rpm.

The benefits of THK's Caged Technology are summarized by "SSE3" (smooth, silent, economical, ecological and endless). THK's Caged Technology isolates each of the load carrying re-circulating elements in their LM guides in an individual cage or pocket. This cage prevents ball-to-ball or roller-to-roller contact and the associated friction. The cage also acts as a reservoir for lubricants, eliminating the need for an external lubricating system. Caged Technology systems also offer higher speed capabilities and, with 1/10th the torque deviation of standard LM guides, greatly improved positioning accuracy. The specific benefits include increased speed and accuracy of motion, decreased noise levels, long-term, maintenance- free operation and reduced sources of contamination.
