Automated optimization of cutting feed rates. Using the tool load compensation (TLC) feature of the MP CNC reduces cycle times. Instead of using a generalized safe feed rate, feed rates are calculated for maximum speed and can then be reduced by toolload conditions during cutting operations without any input from machine operators. At the beginning of the cutting operation, the operator only has to set the tool-load parameters for feed-rate reduction and percentages of rate increase. When the load on the spindle does not meet the target percentage rate, the feeds go up. Conversely, when the load on the spindle meets the target percentage rate, the feeds go down. This saves programming time by eliminating manual fine-tuning of programmed feed rates.
