Tornos Acquires Schaublin CNC Turning Center Line
Tornos Technologies U.S. Corporation (Brookfield, CT) is now selling and servicing the Schaublin CNC turning center line, following the acquisition by its Swiss parent company, Tornos Technologies U.S. Corporation, of Schaublin Ltd's CNC turning line and about 150 employees.

"We are excited about this acquisition," says Tornos U.S. president, Tom Dierks. "We can offer turning machines with up to 65mm diameter capacities, plus we now have the engineering and design expertise to build larger machines in our PNC Deco 2000 line," Dierks says. "That is the ultimate goal."
Tornos current single-spindle turning machines handle up to 32mm diameter capacities. Its Deco 2000 Swiss-type lathe line features parallel numerical control (PCN), an enhancement t conventional CNC control that permits parallel axis execution. The benefits are a significant reduction in idle time, improved speed and productivity compared with conventional cam-driven screw machines, and precision and flexibility that only CNC control can deliver.
Schaublin's production and assembly facility is located about 20 km from Tornos' factory in Moutier, Switzerland. All operations will eventually be moved into the Tornos plant.
