Toshiba Selects Ellison as Exclusive S. California Distributor

Toshiba Machine Company America (Elk Grove Village, IL) and Ellison Machinery Company of Southern California (Santa Fe Springs, CA) recently formalized an exclusive distribution partnership for Toshiba Machine Tool Products in Southern California.

Toshiba Machine Company America is a leading manufacturer of CNC machine tools and integrated production systems. Toshiba specializes in CNC vertical turning lathes (VTLs), CNC boring mills, CNC horizontal machining centers, and CNC gantry and double column machining centers. Toshiba supplies aerospace and aircraft customers, large gearbox and pump manufacturers, and oil and gas component producers. This machinery is currently in use at many "large part" producing companies, and includes up to 5-axis part production capability.

Ellison Machinery is a leading provider of integrated production systems. From its Santa Fe Springs office, Ellison can dispatch manufacturing, service, application and sales engineers to address the full range of challenges that face today's customers.

Tommy Toyomura, director, VP and GM of Toshiba Machine, views the problem-solution approach to CNC machine tool sales as critical to the mutual success of Toshiba and Ellison. "Customers do not want to be sold a machine. They must now focus on solving production problems with the correct application of CNC machine tools. Ellison Machinery concentrates on solving problems and has proven itself to be a valuable partner for Toshiba and its customers," Toyomura explains.

Terry Matsuki, VP and Deputy GM of Toshiba Machine, is primarily concerned with customer satisfaction. "Ellison Machinery provides comprehensive on-site technical service support and telephone assistance 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, as well as a commitment to local stocking of critical spare parts. The Toshiba – Ellison Partnership will provide a higher level of customer satisfaction."

The Toshiba – Ellison alliance is truly a partnership. The joint commitment to quality, service and customer satisfaction will provide valuable solutions for production problems, which will improve communications and thereby add value to the customers in Southern California, Matsuki says.

Craig Allen, president of Ellison Machinery of Southern California, is looking to a bright future. "The alliance of Toshiba and Ellison will be exciting and rewarding. The opportunity to combine our capabilities with those of a world-class manufacturer like Toshiba will greatly benefit our customers and should enhance their competitive position and profitability."

One of the highlights of this partnership was the ability of Ellison to introduced the new Toshiba NX-76 horizontal machining center to West Coast manufacturers. This new machine incorporates the unique and patented "Orbit Boring" feature that is indicative of Toshiba's advanced thinking for solving manufacturing problems. The "Orbit Boring" feature effectively eliminates the need for turning operations and part re-fixturing while increasing productivity.

Ellison is part of the Meritage Corporation, which has 800 employees and offices throughout the United States and Canada and is one of the largest providers of Factory Automation Equipment and Engineering Services in the world.
