Toyoda Select G Universal Grinder Accommodates Straight And Angle Approach Grinding

UK - The latest CNC universal grinding machine from Toyoda Machinery combines the flexibility of being able to be changed from straight to 30° angle approach by rotating the wheelhead to satisfy users in the small to medium batchwork business requiring a competitively priced precision machine for parts up to 300 mm diameter by 1,000 mm between centres.

Available through 600 Centre of Shepshed near Loughborough, the Select G-100 employs the latest STAT hybrid spindle bearing that combines the benefits of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic technology providing higher spindle stability than is available with conventional bearings.

When at rest, the hydrostatic pressure maintains the wheel spindle in the centre of the bearing eliminating any metal to metal contact while during rotation, this configuration improves damping and rigidity and absorbs vibration. Minimum incremental input is 0.1 micron.

The machine has a maximum swing of 320 mm and will accept between centres load of up to 150 Kg. The wheelsize is 510 mm by 100 mm by 203.2 mm bore which is run at 45 m/sec driven by a 7.5 kW motor with inverter control.

An MT4 centre workhead is driven by 1.1 kW servo motor that is programmable between 21 and 500 revs/min. For higher accuracy requirements the spindle centre can be fixed and the workpiece driven by rotation of the face plate. The workhead can also be swivelled between –30° to +90°. Table stroke is 1,345 mm and is able to be swivelled between 0° and 10°. Rapid feed rate is 10 m/min.

The two-axis Fanuc 21iTB, 32-bit absolute control holds 39 different basic grinding cycles with some 20 processes per cycle that can be displayed through the simple to read operator interface. This screen is also able to depict automatic dressing cycles.

Standard fitments include a 200 litre soluble coolant tank with magnetic separator while gap elimination is an option and in-process gauging for diameters between 5mm and 80mm is available.
